Image-guided procedures for precise, effective pain relief. Our specialists use fluoroscopy and ultrasound to place needles and catheters accurately—so medications and nerve blocks reach the right spot, risks are minimized, and outcomes are better. Part of our full pain management and spine care team.
We use real-time imaging to guide every injection and block. That means medication and needles go exactly where they’re needed—reducing risk and improving relief. Procedures are tailored to your anatomy and diagnosis.
Epidural steroid injections, facet blocks, medial branch blocks, and diagnostic blocks—all under fluoroscopy for accuracy and safety.
Targeted heat to nerves that carry pain signals—often used for chronic facet or sacroiliac pain when blocks have helped temporarily.
Soft-tissue and joint injections guided by ultrasound where it’s the best option for precision and safety.
Before any procedure we review your history, imaging, and goals. We explain the procedure, risks, and what to expect afterward (e.g., driving, activity). The procedure is done with local anesthesia; you may feel pressure but we keep you comfortable. Most procedures take only a few minutes. We’ll give you after-care instructions and schedule follow-up to see how you’re doing and whether additional treatments or PT would help.
Image-guided procedures for precise, effective pain relief.
Interventional procedures use needles or catheters—guided by fluoroscopy (X-ray) or ultrasound—to deliver medication or to treat nerves directly. Examples include epidural steroid injections to reduce inflammation around nerves, facet blocks to numb painful spinal joints, and radiofrequency ablation to dull nerves that send pain signals. The goal is to reduce pain and support rehabilitation so you can move and function better. These procedures are part of pain management, not a replacement for it; they’re often used together with PT, medication, and lifestyle changes.
Fluoroscopy and ultrasound let us see where the needle is in real time. That means we can place medication or energy exactly where it’s needed—next to a nerve, inside a joint, or in the epidural space—while avoiding blood vessels and other structures. Image guidance improves accuracy, reduces complications, and often improves how well the procedure works.
We perform epidural steroid injections (cervical and lumbar), facet joint injections and medial branch blocks, sacroiliac joint injections, diagnostic blocks (to confirm a pain source before ablation), and radiofrequency ablation. We also use ultrasound for certain joint and soft-tissue injections. Your doctor will recommend the procedure that fits your diagnosis and goals.
All procedures carry some risk (e.g., bleeding, infection, nerve injury). We use sterile technique and image guidance to minimize risk. We’ll review your medications (e.g., blood thinners) and may ask you to pause some before the procedure. You’ll get clear instructions for the day of the procedure and for afterward. Most people go home the same day and can resume normal activities within a short time, depending on the procedure.
Interventional procedures are one tool in pain management. They’re often used when conservative care (PT, medication) hasn’t given enough relief, or to reduce pain so you can participate in rehab. We coordinate with our PT and chiropractic teams so your injections support your overall plan—not replace it. When surgery is being considered, we may use diagnostic blocks to help confirm the source of pain before you make a decision.
